Discover the Rich History of Jamaican Red Gum
For years, Jamaica was renowned for its high-grade cannabis and hashes, with a particularly sought-after variety known as Jamaican Red Gum. This creamy, potent hash has a distinctive bright red and orange hue that makes it stand out from other hashes around the world, and connoisseurs from countries like Canada, the United States, and the Netherlands have all been intrigued by this unique product.
How It’s Made
The production of Jamaican Red Gum is largely dependent on the season. During the hot season, the perfect weather conditions are perfect for the cannabis plant to grow bright red hairs, which give the hash its signature color. On the other hand, during the cold season, the flowers do not contain the red hairs and plant material that give it the reddish hue, and instead, a dark brown hash is produced, known as Blue Gum.
Jamaican Red Gum is incredibly sticky, yet malleable enough to be played with. It is created using live plants by rubbing the fresh flowers against the hands, a technique that originated in India, high in the mountains of the Himalayas. It takes a lot of fresh-cut cannabis and many hours of rubbing to make a substantial amount of Red Gum.
Final Product
The time-consuming process of producing Jamaican Red Gum makes it an expensive, sought-after hash. Cannabis connoisseurs have described it as having a sweet and piny taste and an earthy, piney smell. The high produced by this hash is a pleasant combination of a clean body high and a deep, heavy head buzz that is uncommon in imported hashes.
